First Nations Chiefs of Police Association (FNCPA) is pleased to announce the FNCPA Annual Conference (May 16-17) and the FNCPA Annual Officer Awards (May 16) both being held at Hilton Quebec Hotel & Conference Centre, Quebec City. Conference agenda items include the Human Rights Complaint launched by Indigenous Police Chiefs of Ontario (IPCO), Essential Service legislation, and Police Costing for New and Existing Services. Keynote speakers include Brett Newman who will speak about Mental Health in Policing and Kim Murray of the Office of the Special Interlocutor.
“This conference comes at a critical time for Indigenous Policing. For far too long our police services struggled with low resources placing the safety of our communities at risk. Our goal is to come together to discuss solutions and celebrate the achievements of our members who go above and beyond in their duties” says Chief Jerel Swamp of Rama Police Service and FNCPA President.
Recipients of FNCPA Awards will be presented with their awards on the evening of May 16. These recipients were nominated by their peers at member services across Canada. Award Categories include Bravery Award, Lifesaving Award, and Distinguished Services Award (Investigative, Community Service, and Crime Prevention).
