The First Nation Chiefs of Police Association members discussed the proposed change and restructure of the Executive positions at the 2014 Annual General Meeting & Conference, held on May 21 & 22, 2014 in Ottawa, Ontario. The members discussed the proposed changes to the Executive restructure. The suggested changes would be reflected as for the distribution of the Executive positions to broaden the scope of FNCPA representation. FNCPA Executive discussed and proposed changes to: President (1 position), Vice President (2 positions) 1 Manitoba (NWT to Manitoba West) and 1 Ontario (Nunavut and Ontario East) and Secretary/Treasurer (1 combined position). The members agreed that there should be a clause included within the positions, indicating that if there is no representation from the geographical area/region, then the membership can authorize both or either representatives to come the same region. The By-Laws would require an update to reflect the changes. The changes to the Executive positions would become effective during the next FNCPA General Election, but would remain the same with the existing Executive until that time.
The members discussed and passed the following motion:
Motion that the First Nations Chiefs of Police organization members have accepted and approved the changes of the Executive positions to the following: President (1 position), Vice President (2 positions) 1 Manitoba (NWT to Manitoba West) and 1 Ontario (Nunavut and Ontario East) and Secretary/Treasurer (1 combined position). If a nomination is not received from either of the geographical areas for the position of Vice-President, then the general membership can agree to authorize both vice presidents to be from the same region. The changes to the Executive positions would become effective during the next FNCPA General Election to be held in the fall of 2014. The By-laws to reflect the changed adhered.
